Historically, neurodivergent conditions such as ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism spectrum condition were framed as individual disorders with the belief that the person is suffering from a deficit or dysfunction in their mental processing. This framing was found to be deeply flawed with recent research showing that a binary diagnosis could not be justified as everyone lies somewhere along a continuum. many unique strengths and talents may also be associated with this divergent group of people—preferring to use individual deficit labels even though all conditions are multidimensional and overlap.
